ST Electronics and IBM Security Collaborate to Architect Next Generation Cyber Security Operations Centres 19 September 2017
Singapore, 19 September 2017 – Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) and IBM Security today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the purpose of co-developing next generation cyber security operations equipped with cognitive capabilities driven by threat intelligence and Artificial Intelligence, to enhance cyber threat detection, data analytics and abilities to respond to threats across endpoints, networks and users with speed and accuracy.
The collaboration intends to introduce a new concept to ST Electronics’ Security Operations Centres (SOCs), transforming traditional SOCs into a cognitive Command and Control Centre. In addition to the ability to detect early abnormalities and uncover advance threats for proactive defense, the new capabilities of the Command and Control Centre will provide clarity of networks driven by analytics and system integration to enable a swift, nimble and effective response to a security incident.
“In today’s complex cyber environment, a new dynamic and robust cyber security strategy is required to counter rapidly evolving and sophisticated cyber threats – one holistic architecture that integrates innovative technology, robust processes and indigenous engineering expertise. Keeping pace with the evolving speed of technology, it is timely that the modern Command and Control Centre is equipped with advanced analytics to defend critical assets. I am delighted that this partnership will contribute to the transformation of the industry – with our combined and complimentary capabilities and expertise, we will strive to continue creating value for our diverse clienteles and the cyber security industry,” said Mr Ravinder Singh, President of ST Electronics.
Jean-Claude Broido, Vice President of IBM Security Asia Pacific said, “IBM’s aim is to create, design and transform cyber security landscape by leveraging cutting edge technology like Watson for Cyber Security which takes the guesswork out of fighting cybercrime by understanding the context of unstructured data. We are thrilled to collaborate with ST Electronics for the purpose of introducing cognitive cyber security operations locally and developing a future-ready ecosystem that will add value to all stakeholders locally and internationally. I am also hopeful that this collaboration will help address the current cyber security challenges, especially in the area of skills, and prepare one and all to embrace the next wave of cyber security.”
Powered by analytic and cognitive capabilities which enable advanced automation of gathering cyber intelligence, as well as the ability to digest sheer volume of data in order to derive information and visibility of impending threats within minutes instead of days or weeks, the new Command and Control Centre will offer customers a proactive and robust cyber defense system resulting in better resource planning, utilisation and assets optimisation.
Another key feature is the modular and scalable intelligence architecture, which forms the backbone of the new Command and Control Centre. The ability to customise companies’ cyber security operations provides them with a pragmatic approach to fast-evolving and increasing sophisticated cyber threats, enabling them to keep pace with rapid changes in the threat landscape.
